Title: “Drawings of Sections and Drawing with Sections”
How sections can be a tool for understanding and creating space? We are starting from the history theory and philosophy of cutting in order to approach knowledge in general and then in order to understand space. When did architects start to draw sections? The conceptual difference between the horizontal section (plan) and the vertical section and the communicative power of the section as a representation tool. Moreover, sections can be sometimes a starting point in architectural design process, since some types of buildings are conceived in sections. We will also talk about the relationship and transition between idea, structure, and surface.
