Project title: DANube Urban Brand + Building Regional and Local Resilience through the Valorization of Danube’s Cultural Heritage – DANUrB+ / 2020-22 / INTERREG EU Danube Transnational Programme

DANUrB+ is a new project funded by the INTERREG EU Danube Transnational Programme, launched on 1st July 2020, to foster resilient use of cultural heritage and resources of the peripheral and border cities and regions along the Danube. In 30 months, the project will create new opportunities for attractiveness in selected settlements and shrinking cities and activate underused cultural heritage to strengthen the Danube cultural identity. The project activities will further (1) develop a “Danube brand” for cities; (2) provide an opportunity for the better monitoring of tourist movements and spending; (3) support the existing Cultural Routes and (4) increase the capacity of local stakeholders for cooperation at local and interregional level.

The DANUrB+ partnership consists of 17 ERDF and 2 IPA consortium partners and 23 associated strategic partners from 6 countries. 10 of them participated in the previous DANUrB project, including the Budapest University of Technology and Economics acting again as lead partner. The core of the project is partner teams from the departments of urbanism from five universities from Danubian countries: from Bratislava, Budapest, Timisoara, Bucharest, and Belgrade. All partners will work together to promote the sustainable use of cultural heritage and resources in the Danube cities and communities. The school program of the project will educate young people about cross-cultural values, encouraging them to discover and appreciate the urban heritage connected to the Danube River. These joint activities are organised into four working packages: Research, Planning tools, Education, and Action. Working within these packages, they will further contribute to the shaping of a new Danube cultural identity, which is the main goal of the DANUrB+ project.

University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture is one of the main partners in the project and the lead partner of the working package T1 “Research – defining points of interventions for sustainable use of cultural heritage”. Associate strategic partners in Serbia are the Cities of Sombor and Smederevo and Golubac Municipality. Research team is coming mainly from the Department of Urbanism:
