First week of The Summer School of Architecture for students of the French school ESTP passed quite quick with an intensive program full of lectures and tours! Students were welcomed on Monday 12.06. by the Dean of Faculty of Architecture, professor Vladimir Lojanica, with an introductory lecture.

The Summer School of Architecture for students of the French school ESTP (https://www.estp.fr/en) and University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture starts on Monday 12.06.2023. and will last until the 14th of July 2023! Students are to expect a comprehensive and interesting program of lectures, workshops, guided tours and construction site visit!

The University of Belgrade - Faculty of Architecture is a partner institution within the consortium of the newly launched project sUser - KA220-HED - Cooperation partnerships in higher education ERASMUS+ (2022-2025).

We are pleased to announce that assistant professor of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture Snežana Vesnić will be a member of the jury for the 2023 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award for the Young Talent category. Professor Vesnić has been the Coordinator for National Nominations for the Mies van der Rohe Award in the Union of Architects of Serbia.

Keeping up with technologies to imagine and build together sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful cities

CREATIVE DANUBE Erasmus+ project, in which the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture was one of participants, ended with 2022. The topic of the project was the improvement of teaching and learning skills regarding the development possibilities of small and medium-sized cities and towns in the Danube Region at seven Danubian higher-education institutions that participated in this Erasmus+ consortium.

On February 2, 2023, the Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Takahiko Katsumata and Ms. Yuki Ikoma, First Secretary, Department of Culture and Media, attended the presentation of the Master Studio Design Project M03A/07A The Culture of Habitation: Ambassadors’ Residence, led by: mentor, Dr. Dragana Vasiljević Tomić, Associate Professor and associate, Dr. Ivan Filipović, Graduate Teaching Assistant.

The 3rd and last transnational project meeting of the Erasmus+ CREATIVE DANUBE Project was held in Bucharest, Romania, on November 25-26, 2022. The meeting was organised by the project leader – the Faculty of Urban Planning of “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism. All seven higher-education institutions in the project consortium participated in the project meeting.

As the part of final activities in the DANUrB+ Project, each project partner conducted a pilot action with the Danube city with which it cooperates. The main pilot action within DANUrB+ Project realised in Serbia is a new mural for “Staparska Ruža / Stapar Rose” Women association from Stapar Village, a super-stakeholder organisation in the project from Sombor Region. The International Architecture and Engineering Forum – SHARE celebrates its fourth edition in Belgrade and focuses on the design and performance of facades and their impact on public spaces. SHARE Belgrade 2022 Forum will take place on 23rd November at the Metropol Palace Hotel.

We are delighted to share that the deadline for SAJ vol 15, issue 1 (2022) has been extended to the 30th of November and that the Call for papers is available on the journal website. Inspired by the Japanese identity(-ies) and its spatial manifestations, guest editor, Teaching Assistant PhD Ivan Filipović, from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Belgrade, invites researchers to contribute with papers exploring the relationship between architectural design and the theory of (Japanese) identity(-ies). ECOBUILT Workshop will be held in online format (webinar-based event) on October 26 and 27, 2022. The workshop is a training activity within ERASMUS + program (ERASMUS-EDU-2021-EMJM-DESIGN — Erasmus Mundus Design Measures), the 15-month international project ECOBUILT – Eco-friendly Built Environment (n. 2101050081). This project is a result of mutual efforts of partner institutions: Riga Technical University, Latvia (beneficiary – https://www.rtu.lv/en), University of Genoa, Italy (co-beneficiary – https://unige.it/en/), and University of Belgrade, Serbia (co-beneficiary and hosting institution of the workshop – www.bg.ac.rs/en/).

University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture in the week from 27. - 30. September begins the new 2022/2023 school year with the manifestation of the WEEK WITH ARCHITECTURE 2022. The event contains a series of activities aimed at informing the professional and general public about the educational process and research in the field of architecture conducted by the Faculty.

The 2nd International conference of the DANUrB+ Project was organised in Sombor, Serbia, and Baja, Hungary, on August 26-27, 2022. The topic of the conference was regional branding and the network building of cultural economy and tourism. Therefore, the conference aimed to find common tracks, living and forgotten/or hidden remnants of cultural heritage in Danubian countries and beyond, which can be re-discovered and activated for regional identity and brand building. Regional branding is an umbrella term. This is a connection between the individual and collective reputation, where a special respect is given to quality, value adding and the strengthening of regional identity. Hence, the branding becomes an important tool for local/regional development and community building.
