Dr. Aleksandra Milovanović (1993) is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture (UBFA), Coordinator of the Centre for Research, and researcher at the Laboratory for Urban Morphology and Typology (MorphoLab). She received her Bachelor’s (2015), Master’s (2017), and PhD (2022) degrees in Architecture from the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture, where she has been engaged in research and teaching since 2018. She defended her doctoral dissertation, The Role of Architectural Programming Methodology in the Design Process of Spatial Morphology: The Case of Third Belgrade, in 2022, establishing the foundation for her subsequent research in architectural programming and the analysis of urban patterns. Her current research focuses on architectural and urban design, architectural programming, urban morphology, heritage reprogramming, and the development of digital methodologies for the analysis, modelling, and management of urban environments.

She is currently a researcher on the project Future Heritage of Spa Settlements: Digital Platform for Advancing Knowledge and Innovation in Urban Morphology Approach for Environmentally-Sensitive Development in Serbia (SPATTERN), funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia under the PRISMA Programme, where she contributes to the development of a digital platform based on spatial patterns, cultural heritage, and urban morphology (2023–2026). At the international level, she serves as Science Communication Coordinator of the COST Action OBSERVISTA – Observatory of Innovative Strategies for Repurposing Terrain Vague (CA24134), as well as Co-Leader of Working Group 3 – Cultural, Political and Legal Contexts. As a member of the Action’s Core Group, she contributes to strategic planning, the coordination of scientific communication and dissemination activities, and the development of the European research network (2025–2029). Previously, she held research and coordination roles in the international projects HERSUS (Project Manager for Dissemination, 2020–2023, Erasmus+), ECOBUILT (Project Manager for Dissemination, 2022–2023, Erasmus+), sUser (Project Manager for Quality Control, 2023–2025, Erasmus+), Cli-CC.HE (Project Manager for Quality Control, 2023–2025, Erasmus+), RE-MHN (Researcher, 2022, DAAD), and participated as a researcher in the COST Actions Circular City and SHiFT.

Alongside her international activities, she serves as Coordinator of the institutional research project “Traces of the School”, dedicated to documenting and presenting the 180-year development of architectural education, the institutional history, and the scientific heritage of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture (2025–2026). She was also a member of the expert team responsible for preparing the Guidelines with Methodology for the Preparation of Baseline Studies for the Assessment of the Current State and Prospects for Improving Architectural Quality, Context, and Place Identity in Urban Settlements at the Local Government Level, commissioned by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia (2025–2026). She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Serbian Architectural Journal.

In teaching, she is engaged in integrated (5-cycle), Master’s, and doctoral study programmes, primarily in the fields of architectural design, housing, and research methodology. She is the course coordinator and curriculum developer of the Master’s course Architectural Reprogramming, as well as a lecturer in the doctoral course Academic Writing and Presentation Skills – Synthesis. She also supervises doctoral candidates in thematic research projects and doctoral dissertation development within the Doctoral Programme in Architecture and Urbanism (IMT).

She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications in leading international journals and conference proceedings, an active participant in international research networks, and the recipient of several awards in architectural and urban design competitions and professional exhibitions. Her research is dedicated to developing methodologies that integrate architectural design, digital technologies, cultural heritage, and innovative approaches to sustainable urban development.
