Ceremonial handover of the READ JAPAN PROJECT donation held at the Faculty of Architecture

At the Faculty of Architecture – University of Belgrade in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Serbia, on Monday, December 18, 2023, a ceremonial handover of the READ JAPAN PROJECT donation was held, attended by representatives of the Embassy of Japan, Mr. Tetsuya Tsubota, Chargé d’affaires and Ms. Kaori Ogura, Third Secretary, Cultural Attaché. 

In a suitable program, attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Prof. Vladimir Lojanica and the Vice-Dean for Finance and Cooperation with the Economy, Prof. dr Dušan Ignjatović, Project Coordinator, dr Ivan Filipović presented the donated books to the distinguished guests. After the presentation of the material, the representatives of the Embassy visited the library of the Faculty of Architecture, where previously donated books were presented to the guest, adding to the previous donations from Japan.   

The Read Japan Project represents the continuation of the successful cooperation between the Faculty of Architecture – University of Belgrade and the Embassy of the of Japan in the Republic of Serbia which supported this project, on activities aimed at strengthening friendly ties between Serbia and Japan. 

The READ JAPAN PROJECT was launched by The Nippon Foundation in 2008 to promote the understanding of Japan through the donation of English-language books to universities and libraries around the world. The project is managed by the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research with financial support from the Nippon Foundation. The aim of the project is not only to support the activities of researchers, opinion leaders and intellectuals who are specialists in Japan, but also to promote understanding among the entire public and thereby contribute to the long-term development of friendly relations. 

Donated books on Japanese culture, society and politics will be available to interested readers in the library of the Faculty of Architecture. 

This opportunity was used to re-emphasize the dedication and commitment with which the Embassy of Japan continues to cooperate with the Republic of Serbia through various projects, with the aim of deepening the friendly relations between the two countries, based on mutual cooperation.
