Crime Prevention Through Urban Design and Planning

TUD COST ACTION TU1203, 2012–2016

The objective of this Action is to contribute to the structuring of existing knowledge and to develop innovative approaches on building more secure and safe cities. Studies have proved that there is a correlation between the structure and organization of urban space and crime: the new criminological theory supports this point of view. The Justice and Home Affairs Council of the EU has underlined that crime prevention through design is a successful and effective strategy for crime prevention which needs to be supported. Therefore, the Action will develop new knowledge and innovative approaches to combining theoretical thinking and practical experience. Thus the scientific program forecasts to work simultaneously on the innovative approaches deriving from research and experts on one hand, and on the know-how acquired through best practical experience of participating countries on the other hand.

Project Leader and Representative of the Republic of Serbia to the Steering Committee: dr Aleksandra Đukić
Researchers: Milena Vukmirović
