About PhD Talks 2026
The Research Center (CID) of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture invites PhD candidates to apply for participation in PhD Talks 2026, to be held on 23–24 March 2026.
PhD Talks is conceived as a seminar dedicated to doctoral research in process. It provides a space for PhD candidates to present and discuss their ongoing research, to reflect on its development, and to receive critical feedback from invited reviewers and peers.
The seminar brings together PhD candidates in the final stages of preparing their doctoral dissertation proposals or who have recently completed the proposal submission process. The seminar is conceived as a platform for presenting and/or critically re-examining their research through plenary discussion and engagement with invited reviewers. It also provides an opportunity for participants to compare and exchange experiences of shaping a doctoral dissertation with peers from the country and the region, and to gain additional and/or new insights into their research through discussion with selected reviewers and other participants, helping them to identify clear directions towards the successful completion of their doctoral work.
Focus
Rather than emphasizing finished results, the seminar foregrounds research trajectories, questions, methods, and critical positioning. It welcomes doctoral research related to architecture, urbanism, spatial practices, and related fields, including but not limited to theoretical, historical, critical, design-based, and interdisciplinary approaches. PhD Talks is conceived as a supportive and critical academic environment that encourages open discussion and constructive feedback.

Application
Applicants are invited to submit an abstract to:

Subject: PhD Talks 2026
The abstract should focus on the presentation of the research process, including the formulation of the doctoral thesis topic, the development of the methodological framework, the relationships between research questions and disciplinary positioning, and the structuring of the research approach.
Abstracts have to be submitted in English, with a maximum length of 500 words, and may include one illustration.

- Seminar dates: 23–24 March 2026
Publication
Selected contributions will be invited for publication in a special issue of the SAJ – Serbian Architectural Journal (https://saj-journal.org/), edited by guest editors Prof. Michele Bonino and Prof. Ognen Marina.
Additional Information
There is no participation fee. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
After acceptance, participants will prepare an oral presentation in English, followed by discussion with the reviewers and seminar participants.
