Professor
Nataša Ćuković Ignjatović (La Chaux de Fonds, 1969) is full professor at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture. She has graduated from the same institution in 1996, and finished her MSc and PhD. at the same faculty in 2009 and 2016.
Her professional and scientific interests are related to green building design and refurbishment, sustainable and resilient architecture. Recent particular experiences are in the field of green building assessment and exploring possibilities for strategic assessments of existing building fund and sustainable upgrades of various building types.
Nataša’s academic activities include theoretical courses and design studio projects at all study levels. She is a founder of research unit SaRA (Sustainable and Resilient Architecture) and she takes an active part in the organization and implementation of various extracurricular activities, permanently working on cooperation projects with universities and faculties in the country and abroad.
Currently, she is coordinating ERASMUS+ mobility project with IUAV, bilateral cooperation with University of Maribor and is participating at international projects. Previous engagements include Erasmus+ Strategic partnership HERSUS (2020-2022), ERASMUS+ mobility project with University of Strathclyde (2017-2019, coordinator), ERASMUS+ project KLABS (2015-2018, institutional coordinator), H2020 project EmBuild and served as coordinator, team leader or key expert in several national and international projects related to building typologies and energy efficiency in buildings.
She has organized and mentored many extracurricular activities, including participation at Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 competition (TwistBox team), W.A.Ve Abroad workshop (with IUAV), ESTP Summer School 2023 and 2024.
The extensive bibliography includes numerous monographs, scientific papers, conference papers and other, mainly international, publications.
Recent publications include innovative textbook LEED and WELL Systems and Design Process (2024), Students’ Plans for Velika Plana (2024), Energy – resources and building performance (2018, editor with T. Konstatinou and M. Zbasnik-Senegacnik), School and Kindergarten Buildings / A methodological framework for the formulation of typology and the improvement of energy efficiency (with the group of authors, 2018), National Typology of Kindergartens in Serbia (with the group of authors, 2018), National Typology of Schools in Serbia (with the group of authors, 2018), Conserve energy (with D. Ignjatovic, 2017), Use-Re-Use: New Belgrade (publication presented at Venice Biennale 2014), National Typology of Residential Buildings in Serbia (with the group of authors, 2013), Atlas of Family Housing in Serbia (with the group of authors, 2012), Atlas of Multifamily Housing in Serbia (with the group of authors, 2013), Façade: Adaptations and Transformation (2010).
She is a regional editor in Archnet-IJAR: International Journal of Architectural Research and a member of editorial review board of Open House International (OHI), Emerald Publishing journals. She is also an active member of scientific advisory board of SDEWES (Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems)
Nataša has designed numerous buildings, covering great variety of programs and showing high sensitivity to various cultural and climatic conditions (Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Serbia, Montenegro, Russia, Greece). Her practice was presented in more than 15 exhibitions with international selection and she holds numerous entries and awards in international and national architectural design competitions.
Professional licenses include LEED AP BD+C (since 2012) and national licences responsible designer – architecture (since 2002), and responsible energy efficiency engineer (since 2013).
