Milena Kordić obtained her MSc (2009) and Ph.D. (2014) degrees at University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture. Her Master Thesis entitled: The Phenomenon of In-Between-ness: Architectural Conception of the Relation Between Inside and Outside won an annual award from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia. In her Ph.D. Thesis with the title: Models of Continuity: Epistemology of Interior Design she continued to investigate connections of philosophy and theory of architecture and interior design.

Her specific fields of interest in research work include practical design as well as design theory, focusing on the relationship between architecture and philosophy, exploring important issues that conjoin theory and practice in architecture and design. She is the author of the book In-Between Space (Zadužbina Andrejević, Belgrade, 2012) and more than 15 scientific papers published in relevant monographs, magazines, journals, and conference proceedings.

In addition to scientific and teaching activities, she is engaged in professional work in the field of architectural and urban design. Participating in various national and international architectural and urban planning competitions, she has received more than 15 awards and recognitions that include: 1st price at the open competition for a Wider area of Hippodrome in Belgrade (2017), 2nd prices at open architectural competitions for Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Canberra (2018), for Three Main Squares in Belgrade (2015), and for Reconstruction and Adaptation of the National Museum in Belgrade (2010). Her professional practice includes several realized objects (The library annex in Šabac, Villa Monte del Sol in Herceg Novi…), awarded interior designs for public spaces (Polyclinic Zejnilović, Bar, Montenegro), more than 15 apartment interior designs (Belgrade, Paris, Berlin) and is exhibited at national and international architectural exhibitions. Active in academic workshops, she is an author of several students’ exhibitions, interested in finding new ways to engage students in challenging the limits of the discipline.
