Mariela Cvetić, PhD is an artist and art theorist. She has graduated (M.Sc.ME) from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (UB-FME) (1989) and graduated (MA) from University of Arts in Belgrade, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, where she obtained degree Magister of Arts (two years of doctoral studies in arts). She is  Doctor of Science in the Field of Arts and Media (PhD), University of Arts in Belgrade,  Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies, Arts and Media Theory Group with PhD Dissertation titled Psychoanalytic Theories of Space: Freudian Notion “Das Unheimliche” in Visual  Arts.

Her artistic practice and theoretical work explore the relationship between subject and space. She is an author of many solo and group exhibitions both national and international, as well as students’ exhibitions. Member of author’s team whose floor installation wonhlich was selected to represent Republic of Serbia on 11th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, 2008. She is the author of the book Das Unheimliche: Psychoanalitical and Cultural Theories of Space (Das Unheimliche: psihoanalitičke i kulturalne teorije prostora (Beograd, 2011) and The Artist’s Book/Umetnikova knjiga, (Beograd, 2013)).
