Goran Vojvodic (1959, Belgrade) completed Architecture at the Architecture Faculty, University of Belgrade in 1986. His early professional experience includes work with architectural practices like IMS, Energoprojekt, CIP and from 1989 he worked in architectural practice run by professor W. J. Krings, in Germany. Since 1992 he established his own architectural practice and since 2007, together with Jelena Ivanovic, Vojvodic establishes BIRO.VIA. Since 2014 he has been appointed as full-time professor at the Architectural Faculty at the University of Belgrade.

 

Externally invited professional roles include membership of decision making committes for Institute of Architects in Belgrade, History of Yugoslavia Museum, DOCOMOMO Serbia, Architect Ivanka Terzin Foundation, member of Association of Architects Serbia, member of Planning Committee for Architectural Spatial Development at the City of Belgrade Assembly as well as member of organising committee for Belgrade International Architecture Week.

 

His architectural experience include both the width and the breadth of realised projects from various architectural typologies – residential, office buildings, shopping centres, sport centers and hotels, adaptations and reconstructions of existing buildings, urban public and private interior spaces, built both in the national and international context.

 

In the past 30 years his work has been exhibited and he participated in approximately 40 international public events some of which include International Architecture Exhibition Biennale Architettura in Venice, XXI World Congress of Architecture in Berlin, and numerous solo and group shows in Moscow, Prague, Paris, Barcelona, Vienna, Melborne, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis et al.)

 

As a guide, chosen built examples include: Administrative Buiding for KSJ, Sport and Business Complex Gemax, Bussiness and Offices for Anex, Roaming, Coning, Porsche SCG (all in Belgrade), Hemofarm (in Bad Hamburg),Banks, Assembly Halls and Nurseries Neuhausen, Dresden, Ormont (all in Germany), Exhibition and Service Salons for Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen; residential buildings for Dexon, Gemax, Exing, City Properties. He is the author of reconstruction of Belgrade Philharmony Orchestra Building, French Cultural Centre, Exhibition Spaces that include Graniti Fiandre, Belgrade City Museum as well as interiors of bespoke boutiques, restaurants, offices and residential buildings.

 

He is the author of two books: My Architecture (Birovia, Belgrade 2012) and Architecture of Details (Architectural Faculty, University of Belgrade, Belgrade 2019).

 

Prizes and Awards for built work are numerous (he has obtained 26 of such) and came for the work built at home and abroad. Awards received include prizes from Museum of Applied Arts, Architecture Salon in Novi Sad, Society of Architects Serbia, VRV Trophy, BIG SEE Architecture Award, Association of Architect Serbia. He is also the recepient of Borba Award for Architecture, April Award from City of Belgrade for Architecture and Urbanism, as well as, The Big Architecture Award from Assembly of Architects for Life Work.
