The EmBuild project is designed to empower the public authorities at local, regional and national level, to formulate renovation strategies for the building sector that foster deep renovation and facilitate the acceleration of the renovation.
40% of all energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in the European Union arise in private and public buildings. If the EU wants to achieve its energy and climate goals, our private, public and industrial buildings have to use less energy. The public sector should be the pioneer and lead the way to an energy-efficient building stock.
Action is foreseen in selected municipalities and local government units in Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania. The project however does not intend to stop here but intends to reach a much broader audience by applying a range of communication and dissemination methods. Official start of the project is March 1st and it will go on for the next 30 months.
EmBuild project coordinator is Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and implementing partners are: The Technical Univesity of Munich (TUM), Energie- & Umweltzentrum Allgäu (eza!), North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency – REGEA, BPIE, The Center for Energy Efficiency (EnEffect), University of Belgrade (Faculties of Architecture, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), KSSENA, The Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Agency “AE3R Ploiesti – Prahova” and NALAS.
